AAPSU told not to take law into its hands
ITANAGAR, Aug 6: The State government has taken adequate steps to check infiltration of illegal migrants from Assam in the wake of the recently published NRC final draft.
The government had in an order dated July 31,directed all DCs and the Director General of Police for taking necessary measures to check entry of illegal immigrants into the state through check gates, airports, railway stations and other entry points and to carry out stringent checking of ILPs as per the provisions of the law. In compliance of the said order, the concerned DCs and SPs are regularly carrying out stringent ILP checking in their jurisdictions. Accordingly, the concerned DCs and SPs are regularly carrying out stringent ILP checking in their jurisdictions, said a statement issued from the state Home department here today.
The Director General of Police has also issued instructions in this regard to the Superintendents of Police of all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh is totally committed to take stringent action to check and prevent entry of any illegal migrant(s), said the release.
It may be noted that the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has issued an order giving deadline of 15 days (ending on 16th August, 2018) to all non-APSTs in the state to either get valid ILP or leave the state and directing the district students' unions to launch "Operation Clean Drive" against illegal migrants in the state in their respective districts. The delegation of AAPSU also met the Chief Secretary on August 3.
The resolve and commitment of the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in respect of checking and preventing entry of illegal migrant (s) was reiterated in that meeting. The representatives of AAPSU were also informed that they should provide requisite information about any illegal migrant(s) if they come to know about the same to the respective Superintendents of Police and Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts as legal action has to be taken by the district authorities and Arunachal Pradesh Police against the illegal migrant(s) as per existing rules and law prescribed in this regard, the statement added.
The statement further said that nobody should take law in his hands or act in a manner which is in contravention of legal provisions as in such cases action shall be taken by the district law enforcing authorities against the law breakers. It is, therefore, requested that the representatives of AAPSU should provide information to the district authorities i.e DCs and SPs of the respective district(s) wherein they have any information about any illegal migrant(s) residing in the said district(s). The representatives and members of AAPSU should refrain from taking any action which is not as per law and should not take law into their hands by any chance.
It further re-iterated that the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh shall take all necessary and requisite legal action for ensuring, checking and preventing entry of any such illegal migrant(s) to the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
