Local youth will be asset, says Army Chief


ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) met the Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat in New Delhi on Thursday. They discussed about recruitment and ‘Pay Back to Society Group’.

The Governor conveyed the goodwill of the people of Arunachal Pradesh to the General for the latter’s initiative in conducting pre-recruitment trainings by the Army units located in the state, increased number of recruitment rallies and for the proposed new battalion of Arunachal Scouts. 

The Governor briefed the Army Chief about the progress of the ‘Pay Back to Society Group’, which is being promoted by the Governor. The project aims to ensure that larger number of youth from the state join the Armed Forces.

The General assured his best for the state and people of Arunachal Pradesh and said that Indian Army is always with the fellow citizens of this frontier state.

The Army Chief also said that Arunachal Pradesh boys, particularly those from higher reaches, will be an asset and can be recruited in the Indian Army for the security of the border with China. He expressed hope that youth of the State will utilize the opportunities of recruitment and more and more youth will be motivated to turn up for recruitment.   

The Governor also met the Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and discussed about higher education, primary schools in border areas and NCERT text books for the students in the state.

The Governor impressed upon the Union Minister for enhancing the quality of higher education in the state to match the requirements of employment avenues. He stressed on value based education for qualified, skilled and trained human resources.   The Governor requested the HRD Minister for expediting the process of appointments of Director for NIT and Vice Chancellor for RGU.

The Minister assured that the appointments will be done very soon.

The Governor also requested the HRD Minister for more Kendriya Vidyalayas in the border towns of the state. He said that with opening of  Kendriya Vidyalayas in the distant and difficult areas, the local people will have facilities of educating their children in good schools and within their areas.
