ZIRO, Nov 7: Nostalgia filled the air at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) football ground at Hija village today as former students gathered from near and far for a momentous double celebration, the official launch of the school’s Alumni Association and its very first Alumni Meet.
The gathering brought together prominent leaders, educators, and community members. The event was graced by Mutchu Mithi,  MLA-cum-Advisor to the Ministers of Home and Education as the Chief Guest. MLA Hage Appa, Er. Tapi Tai, Chief Engineer (Power) and General Secretary of AITF, joined as the Special Guest, alongside the active participation of DC Oli Perme, lending strong administrative support to the day's proceedings.
Beyond the joyful reunions and walk down memory lane, the programme highlighted a powerful step forward for the institution's future. It was shared during the event that GHSS Hija is proudly one of 14 government schools across Arunachal Pradesh adopted by Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) with this vital initiative spearheaded under the aegis of Tanii Supuñ Dukuñ, the Apex Council of Apatani. This school adoption model reflects the State Government’s vision of weaving community strength directly into the fabric of public education. By bridging the gap between schools and society, the initiative nurtures a shared sense of ownership, mobilises grassroots support, and turns alumni networks into active catalysts for student success.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders and organisers lauded the unwavering dedication of the school authorities and the Alumni Association for bringing former students back together under a shared banner of giving back. The collective energy of the day marks the beginning of a promising new chapter, one aimed at sustained institutional growth, deeper community ties, and brighter futures for the youth of Lower Subansiri.
