ITANAGAR, Jun 12:Days after the Congress strongly protested over ban on cow slaughter here in the state capital, BJP state president, Tapir Gao on Monday clarified that that ban on sale of cattle is not a decision initiated by BJP, but the law was passed by Supreme Court after suggestion given by Ministry of Environment, considering the large scale killing of animals under prevention of cruelty to Animal Act (1960).
Gao, said it was the SC that had passed neccessary directions to the Centre and states in July last year to frame rules to stop illegal inter-state and cross-border illegal trading of cattle and centre is just following the order of SC.
Attacking the Congress, Gao said the it was none other than Jawaharlal Nehru led Congress government in 1960, who had first imposed a ban on the sale of cows and buffaloes for slaughter at animal markets across India, wherein 24 states out of 30 states at that time agreed to uphold the decision to ban slaughter of animal in markets across India.
‘Distraction and insulting political opponents that too without any valid grounds has become a hallmark of the Congress party,’ he said and urged them to put forward genuine issues related to public grievances and development and share the same responsibility alongside the ruling government as a vibrant opposition party for devlopment of the state..
Also clearing the rumours going viral in various social media platforms that the Centre is planning to replace Khandu along with few legislators, Gao strongly condemned the rumour mongers and cautioned them to refrain from spreading false information.
‘In BJP culture, no chief minister was ever dropped from his seat,’ he asserted and hinted that opposition party with a vested motive is trying to misguide people of the state.
Dwelling on the Chakma –Hajong issue, Gao asserted that the judgment was also passed by Supreme Court and there is no hand of the NDA government in facilitating the Citizenship right to refugees.
He informed that state government after sensing the gravity of the issue has decided to convene an all political party meeting to discuss the issue again and called upon the opposition to also join the meeting and share their view and ideas in solving the vexed issue.
