ITANAGAR, Feb 24: The Joint Committee Against Null & Void on Friday opposed the demand for null & void by PAJSC, and accordingly termed it against the rights of natural justice, illogical, and immature for those who are now serving for the state government in different departments and posts.
The Joint Committee represents government employees of the 11 batches being directly affected by this demand. The committee recently submitted a joint representation to the state government stating that the acceptance of the demand is against the laid law and is legally untenable.
Addressing the media at the press club here today, committee member Kenli Riba said the acceptance of the demand by PAJSC for null & void of exams by the state government has compelled them to come to the public.
He said that the committee has faith in the state government that no innocent is affected due to the mistake of an individual. Moreover, the entire members of the committee support a thorough investigation of the APPSC cash-for-job scam by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“Around 600 government employees under the joint committee have voluntarily signed a self-declaration for investigation, and also submitted the same to the state government. We are ready for the investigation, and if any single person is found to be guilty, action should be taken. However, we oppose the null & void demand,” he said.
Recently, the state government after days of protest by the PAJSC and the public agreed to fulfill the 13-point demand. Of the 13 points, one of the demands was null & void of the entire exams from 2014, wherein malpractices has been found.
Riba, said that PAJSC should have a logical understanding before demanding null & void exams. The demand will not only have an impact on the genuine candidates but also set negative precedence for the future aspirants, and the state.
“The demand for Null & void is more to shield the perpetrators who indulged in malpractices. At the same time it punishes those who are innocent,” he added.
Another member, Tai Arun said that not only the demand of ‘null and void’ is unjust but the scale and the dimensions of negative repercussions of it are far-reaching and severe. Also, legally the demand should not be accepted before the completion of the ongoing CBI investigation.
He said under the purview of Null & void, three competitive exams in the year 2014, 2017 and 2021 was conducted for various posts. Now, many working officers have left their previous jobs to serve in the current post which will have an adverse effect.
“We appeal to the public and the aggrieved aspirants to lodge FIR against any individual whom they are doubtful about. Acceptance of null & void demand is a dark phase in the state and will also have a negative impact on the state public service commission,” he said.
He also said that the people demanding cancellation of the exam should also know that the present employees can’t fulfill the age eligibility criteria. Many employees are married and have children. This makes their chances of appearing, and passing fresh exams practically impossible.
Meanwhile, Lige Lollen said that the question paper for the exams was not leaked, rather it was sold by someone. Hence, the demand for null & void is illogical and against justice. The demand should be to arrest the seller and the candidates who bought it.
“The state government should recommend for the null & void to the commission only after the entire investigation process is completed. We have faith in the investigating agency, and will fight against the illogical demand until justice is delivered,” he added.
The Joint Committee Against Null & Void, also appreciated the mature and logical suggestions of apex students body, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) who shares a similar opinion.
