Seppa, Jul 15: With the aim of chalking out plans to maintain the current Open Defecation Free (ODF) status enjoyed by East Kameng and to ensure coverage of all the district’s villages with Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) system, DC Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla on Wednesday today convened a coordination meeting here with all stakeholders.
Highlight of the meeting was the drawing of a roadmap for constructing Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs) in villages by converging the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) with MGNREGS. To implement the objective, DC issued a set of directives as a part of which the Panchayat and Rural Development department will coordinate with the PHE & WS department for construction of CSCs within August 30 next.
The PHE & WS department was directed to assess and prepare a detailed plan for construction and implementation of CSCs in villages and the PD, DRDA was entrusted to chalk out a modality to ensure convergence of the unskilled labour component under MGNREGS. DC further directed to segregate and prioritize all the projects based on actual needs, availability of water, sewer feasibility, space, topography and other aspects associated with location of villages and exhorted all to work on a mission mode to achieve the true goals of the SBM.
In order to avoid duplicity of work, EE (PHE & WSD) Bharat Sonam directed the Panchayat department to furnish details of all villages which were provided earlier with community toilets.
