NAHARLAGUN, Sep 28: Arunachal Pradesh has taken a significant step forward in advanced healthcare with the state’s first-ever renal transplant at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.
The landmark procedure was conducted at TRIHMS with technical expertise and support from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, marking an important development in the state’s growing tertiary healthcare capabilities.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited TRIHMS following the successful procedure and met the transplant recipient and his elder sister, who was the donor. The Chief Minister also interacted with the team of doctors, nurses, technicians and other healthcare professionals involved in the complex procedure.
Khandu expressed his appreciation to Dr Harsha Jauhari and the team from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for their expertise, guidance and continued support in helping TRIHMS establish and strengthen its renal transplantation services.
The achievement is expected to strengthen Arunachal Pradesh’s capacity to provide specialised medical treatment within the state and reduce the need for patients requiring advanced renal care to travel to other parts of the country.
