ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) and All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) have expressed dissatisfaction over the letter from the Chief Minister’s Office on the APPSC paper leak and has demanded that the Chief Minister himself gives assurance on the issue within stipulated timeframe failing which the unions have threatened to resort to democratic movement.
Speaking to the media at the press club here today, President ANSU Nabam Dodum said the response from the CMO in writing is not satisfactory and hence Chief Minister Pema Khandu should hold a meeting with both organizations and give proper assurances.
Dodum said the APPSC issue is a matter of grave concern as well as includes the sentiments of the aspirants and the public. Therefore, without any delay the state government should immediately act upon the joint demands of the union.
“The state has witnessed series of corruption in the Commission in the year 2014, 2017 and now in 2022. This clearly indicates the failure of the state government in reforming the Commission for free and fair competition among students,” he said.
Both Unions are demanding that entire cases against the Commission should be reinvestigated by the CBI adding that they have evidence which proves the Investigating Officer did not perform his duty fairly. Moreover, the Commission also has a secret guidelines book which is not made available for the aspirants, they claimed.
Dodum said the court has clearly stated that there was leakage of question paper in 2014. Also, the students won the case in the first bench for 'out of syllabus' case in the year 2017. “Surprisingly, the Commission with the help of confidential guidelines of Commission won the case, which clearly indicates the officials are involved and also poor investigation by the IO,” he said, adding that the confidential guidelines of the Commission should made available to the aspirations.
They also questioned the state government as to why the officials and members of the APPSC have not been terminated.
“If anything goes wrong during the democratic movement, the state government should not blame the union," Dodum said, adding that the union doesn’t understand why the Commission is outsourcing to print the question paper of the examination.
Meanwhile, AAPSU General Secretary Ritum Tali also stressed on reinvestigating the 2014 and 2017 case claiming that the Investigating Officer have misled the matter.
"CM should immediately call for a cabinet meeting along with the representatives from AAPSU and ANSU on the matter. Accordingly the CM should write letter to the Governor to terminate the officials and members of the Commission," Tali said.
Further he stated the guidelines of the APPSC should be reformed with the participation of members from both unions.
"The Commission winning the case filed against them despite providing substantial proof of corruption clearly indicates that it is a collusion of the Commission members and officials,” he said, adding that the union will not back down until their demands are accepted.
