ITANAGAR, Aug 19:  All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has temporarily suspended its ongoing statewide “Operation Clean Drive” against illegal immigrants and ILP violators. This was informed by the Chairman, OCD Tatung Taga in a press statement today.

During the OCD that started on August 17 in collaboration with the administration as the first phase, at least 2205 ILP violators have been identified across the state as per reports submitted to the Union by its various federal units from different districts. However, some of the area in-charges and DSU’s are yet to submit the report due to communication problems.

There are also apprehensions and reports from various districts that ILP violators caught during the “Operation Clean Drive” are being let off without any action, asserted Chairman OCD while appealing to the authority to take proper action.

Further acknowledging the support and cooperation of the administration, police and citizens, Taga informed that a consultative meeting with all the District Students Union (DSUs) has been scheduled on August 23 next to discuss on the second phase of “ Operation Clean Drive.”

It has also come to the knowledge of the Union during the drive that various shopkeepers and brokers (mostly non-APSTs) were involved in issuing fake ILPs. Strict action should also be launched against them by the authority, stated Chairman, OCD.

Meanwhile, in Pasighat at least 150 ILP violators from various places of East Siang were identified and deported after being  produced before the magistrate during the two days checking held on August 17- 18.

'Operation Clean Drive' (OCD) headed by All East Siang District Students Union (AESDSU) and All Bogong Student Union (Elected) with logistic support from the administration and police deported out 'illegal migrants' from the territory of East Siang District, stated a release.
