3rd International Yoga Day observed

ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today led the state in celebrating the third International Yoga Day organised jointly by several cultural organisations of the state.

The Chief Minister launched the event by ‘deep prajwalan’ along with Health Minister Jomde Kena, Power Minister Tamiyo Taga, Parliamentary Secretary Tamar Murtem, State BJP President Tapir Gao, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin and others.

 While participating at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar on Wednesday, Chief Minister Pema Khandu asserted that the government is planning to introduce a period dedicated to yoga in government-run schools to de-stress students and help them in living a healthy and stable life.

  To promote yoga in Arunachal, the Chief Minister announced to depute yoga teachers in all state government run schools, which would be proposed in the cabinet. He also announced to make the celebration of international yoga day in the state as state government sponsored event from next year.

 Taking note of rich potential of state in Ayurveda, the Chief Minister announced to set up a directorate of Ayush, which he informed that the matter has been communicated already to the government of India.

Furthermore, Khandu also made a promise to resolve the scarcity of teachers in schools and stated that the government along with education department has already initiated remedial measures for rationalization of more than 2000 teachers in needy schools across the state.

In the meantime, Khandu added that the government will also recruit teachers, who hold degree of APTET and CTET in a phase wise manner to fill the gap of shortage of teachers.

 Khandu later appealed the various Schools’ students who participated in the celebration to actively involved in the Yoga for healthier mind and soul, while also advising his participating council of ministers to practice Yoga to de-stress from work pressures.

 In his address, Health Minister Jomde Kena stated that yoga is a kind of science which provides healthy and relaxed life to every individual.

 Health Minister and Advisor to CM, Tai Tagak also spoke on the occasion. 

   

At RAJ BHAVAN,

Led by the Secretary to Governor Vinod P Kavle, the officials and staffers including the security personnel participated in the Common Yoga Protocol.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavle advised the officials to practice Yoga for 20 to 30 minutes any time of the day for peace of mind and healthy daily life. Acknowledging the enthusiasm about Yoga amongst the Raj Bhavan officials, the Secretary to Governor proposed to conduct special Yoga programme for them. Large number of staffs volunteered for the programme.

Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, PB Acharya, who is in Kohima, conveyed his good wishes for the session through the Secretary to Governor. He exhorted the Raj Bhavan officials to inculcate Yoga as part of the daily routine. He wished that Yoga, which is one of the greatest gifts of ancient Indian Culture, is promoted and reaches to every nook and of the State.

At TEZU,

Yoga day was observed with much gusto at Tezu today. The day was marked by a mass procession for creating awareness of the day followed by yoga demonstration by Art of Living and yoga relaxation programme by Brahmakumaris at Amik Ringya hall, Tezu.

Minister Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Mohesh Chai who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of PM Narendra Modi for giving yoga an international platform. Saying that yoga is not related to any religion, caste or creed he urged everyone to practice yoga for overall development of body, mind and soul. He congratulated and thanked the District Administration and Health Department for organising the programme successfully and asked all the participants to celebrate Yoga Day with same zeal and enthusiasm every year.

Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour, DC, Lohit Danish Ashraf, exhorted that in today’s world where everything is fast forward, we need to take some time off from our busy schedule to connect our body, mind and soul and therefore emphasized on the need to incorporate yoga as part of every individuals daily life. He further added that yoga is not just exercise but skill for physical, mental and spiritual well being.

 At RGU,

 The NSS unit and Department of Physical Education of Rajiv Gandhi University also celebrated international yoga day in a befitting manner here at RGU campus, wherein Registrar incharge, Dr.Nani Tamang Jose, Deputy Registrar, Kurian Thomas etc along with students and hosts of lecturers actively participated.

 

At YINGKIONG,

 

The International Yoga Day organized by Seva Bharati & VKV in collaboration with Health department conducted at Community Hall, Yingkiong today.

 Resource person Oyar Siboh demonstrated the basic of Yoga followed by the gatherings stepwise on Yoga exercise.

 While attending as a Chief Guest, SDO(S) Adong Pertin briefed about importance of Yoga for sound health & appealed the people to include yoga in their daily life.

 

At SEPPA,

 The Health Department in collaboration with the District Administration, Art of Living, Patanjali, Arun Jyoti and other socio-cultural based organizations organized the programme in the East Kameng district. School children, teaching fraternity, government officials and public enthusiastically participated in the programme.

Attending the event here at General Ground, Seppa, DC Rajeev Takuk exhorted one and all to make yoga an integral part of life as it provides mental and physical strength.

Pledge on moulding oneself into better human beings was taken during the programme.

 

At PASIGHAT, 

District Administration in association with department of Youth Affairs and Patanjali Yoga Peeth Samity, Pasighat organized centrally at Town Club. Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak formally inaugurated the program. Hundreds of government employees and students of IGJ Government High School and members of Ohm Shanti enthusiastically participated.  

Speaking on the occasion, DC Tatak stated that “Yoga is a gift of India to the world.  He asserted that such celebration would inspire the future generations to have a healthy body and soul through practicing yoga. Different organizations and institutions also organized yoga performances.

 

At KHONSA,

The whole of Tirap district, enthusiastically observed the 3rd International Yoga Day and the day was commemorated by cleanliness drive at the premises and Yoga sibirs.

At Khonsa, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha, along with head of departments participated in the yoga camp conducted by District Administration at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khonsa. Jha, in his address dwelt on the relevance and significance of participating in yoga for good health and well being.

At HAWAI,

 The 3rd International Day of Yoga celebration program was conducted by the Anjaw District Administration at Hawai in the Multipurpose Community Hall today.

On the same day the International Music Day was also celebrated at Hawai by the District Administration. On the occasion, music and cultural program was conducted wherein school children and public actively participated with variety of items including songs and dances.

At TAWANG, 

The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tawang celebrated IYD throughout the district with full vigour.
At district headquarters, around 1600 participants comprising gathered at High Altitude Stadium, Tawang to celebrate the day. The participants led by DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok and SP MK Meena performed yoga session under the guidance of yoga teachers.

 At YUPIA,

 Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye in his 
brief address to the participants spoke on the importance of Yoga and its benefits to live a healthy 
life.

The programme was attended by ITBP Jawans, Students of girls residential school, Nyorch, 
Middle school Yupia, staffers from Art of Living Foundation, Itanagar and public of Yupia.
