ITANAGAR, Oct 17:“Xwrmen Aloo”, one of the popular merry-making festivals of Galo Community organized every year during the post harvest season was organized here in a befitting manner by women's wing of Galo Welfare Society, Capital Complex unit under the theme “Xwrmen Aloo - Celebrating Womanhood”.

Community members from all walks of life, thronged the festival venue to have a glimpse of the colourful cultural items along with various games and sports, Folk dances, one-act play, songs and dances performed by the womenfolk.

President of the organizing committee, Gambi Bogo Kamgo delivered the welcome speech, which was followed by a detailed speech on purpose and significance of Xwrmen Aloo by GWS Women Wing President Yabin Dabi Zirdo and GWS President James Mitum Boje.

In her speech, Mipu Sora Ori threw light on the importance of Xwrmen Aloo celebration and the mythology associated with it.

During the occasion, Yanga Poyom Yomcha was felicitated for her lifelong contributions as a spiritual leader, Paklu Taipodia for her achievements in the field of sports as a body-builder and Professor (Dr) Jumyir Basar Loyi in the field of academics.
