Rebia raises concern over alarming rate of TB deaths last year
ITANAGAR, Mar 24:
Along with the rest of the globe, the ‘World TB Day’ on the theme ‘Wanted A Leader For TB Free World’ was observed across Arunachal today.
At YUPIA,
A programme was organized by District Health Society (RNTCP) in collaboration with State Health Society (RNTCP), Arunachal Pradesh, District Administration Papum Pare and Department of Social Work, RGU, Doimukh.
Minister of UD, Town Planning etc, Nabam Rebia flagged off the TB awareness procession from Nyorch village market complex to ZPC hall, Yupia.
Rebia expressed concern over alarming rate of TB death cases last year wherein it was reported that 20 people died due to TB in Papum Pare district itself and said that it should not happen again.
‘District Health Society (RNTCP) must create awareness on mission mode to educate the people about TB and its causes and prevention,’ he said while appealing people to cooperate and work together with health department to eradicate TB as per the target set by the Govt to make India TB-free by 2025.
Later on, while addressing the gathering at ZPC conference hall, Yupia In-Charge Deputy Commissioner, SDO Yupia, Tabang Bodoung also said that TB is dreaded disease and health department cannot end it singlehandedly and termed it a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to support health department to fight against TB.
DMO Dr. Tasso Kampu Subu in her keynote address said that everyone should volunteer to finish TB as per target set by the Govt to end TB by 2025. Citing the achievement of MRVC campaign of Papum Pare, she further said that no one can stop us from achieving the target if we work together willingly and asked the DTO to maintain good communication and to provide report on timely basis.
Earlier, DTO In-Charge Dr. Hage Tayo, DTC, Naharlagun gave presentation on district profile and highlighted on causes and prevention of TB.
He also informed that at District Tuberculosis Centre, Naharlagun patients are provided free of cost treatment and diagnostic tests and TB drugs provided in all DOTS centres.
Dr.K Basar MO DR-TB site Naharlagun while giving vote of thanks also informed that government is giving incentive to patients who successfully complete 6 months course and also to DOTS provider which are directly credited through DBT in their accounts.
To mark the day students from North East Nursing College of Health and Science presented a drama on Tuberculosis awareness and prizes were also distributed to winners of test conducted on the occasion of World TB Day 2018 to students of Arunachal State Nursing School, Zion Institute of Nursing and NE Nursing College of Health and Science. DRCHO, DSO, officials from State and District (RNTCP) and Nursing students participated.
AT PASIGHAT,
An awareness rally was formally flagged-off by the PMC Chief Councilor Kaling Doruk at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat which saw huge participation.
Addressing the participants, PMC Chief opined that increasing trend of TB is cause of concern for the world as a whole. He felt that alarming rate of TB cases in the state is due to lack of proper dissemination of information and further advised to generate more awareness to fight TB in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Y Perme enlightened the participants on the initiatives taken by the government through Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme for prevention and control of tuberculosis and highlighted its causes, symptoms and treatment. He informed that various facilities are available for TB diagnosis in the TB Hospital and people should not take symptoms of TB lightly rather they should get themselves tested immediately with CBNAAT (cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification testing) which has been installed in the hospital. Soon after the rally, Dr. Perme also participated in a radio talk.
The WTD was also observed at Tezu in a befitting manner.
