ITANAGAR, Sep 18:To mark the week long “World Space Week” celebration beginning from  October 4-10 next, the State Remote Sensing Application Centre, Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with the North Eastern Space Application Centre, Regional Centre (NESAC), Department of Space Technology, GoI, Shillong conducted a one day drawing and painting competition amongst the school children of the capital’s schools on Monday at Science Centre, IG Park Itanagar under this year’s theme of ‘“Exploring the new worlds in Space”.

Speaking on the inaugural session, Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology, Chairman, Bamang Mangha stressed on the use of advance space application technologies to attend the real problems of men and society at large.

Director, SRSAC, Harekrishna Dutta in his welcome address dwelt on the application of space technologies and data inputs in various developmental sectors.

Kendriya Vidyalaya–II, Chimpu, Itanagar won the Quiz competition. The winning team will be sponsored to participate at the national level completion at NRSC, ISRO Hyderabad.

In the individual painting competition, Miss Karishma Harijan, Class IX student from Kendriya Vidyalay-II Chimpu clinched first position, while Shro Giogi Tache, Class X Student from Mother’s Angel International School, Abotani stood in second position. On the other hand, Shri Tergum Tacha, a Class X student from VKV, Itanagar bagged third spot. The top three paintings will be sent to NRSC, Hyderabad for evaluation and selection of final winner at National level.
