ITANAGAR, Oct 7:

 

The West Siang on Saturday bagged the state’s best district legal service authority (DLSA) amongst 21 districts in recognition of its valuable services rendered to the needy people.

Dongam Ori Ngomdir was adjudged best para legal volunteer (PLV) and Phurpa Lhamu from DLSA, Tawang received the consolation prize in a commendation ceremony organized by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority today at Itanagar.

Dongam Ori Ngomdir will represent the state at the ensuing commendation ceremony of best dlssa & best para legal volunteer of NALSA at New Delhi.

Congratulating the recipients, Deputy Commissioner, Prince Dawan called upon all the legal services authorities and para legal volunteers to accept the challenging roles as facilitators to access of justice while overcoming all constraints and difficulties.

He further exhorted DLSAs and PLVs to actively propagate and raise awareness about all government schemes and other benefits to all sections of society through legal awareness programmes.

Chief Guest, GS Meena emphasized on sensitizing the Gaon Buras through regular suitable awareness Legal Aid programmes in order to give them ideas and knowledge about their power & functions.

He also assured to consider the issues on difficulties faced by the judicial officers while discharging their judicial functions.Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung highlighted various year long activities of the various DLSAs and requested all the Chairpersons/Secretaries, DLSA and PLVs to actively promote the legal services activities in their respective districts headquarters for exceeding the target of reaching out to large section of society for achieving access to justice.
