PASIGHAT, Oct 9:   One of the most renowned teachers of East Siang District, Rita Pao, 70 of Namsing village under Mebo Sub-Division passed away on Saturday after a brief illness in Chandigarh.

Late Rita Pao has been a pioneer in teaching and grooming many local students, many of whom are officers holding high posts in the state today. Many citizens of the area fondly remember her as a sincere and capable teacher who was also a role model for every households of the area for raising successful children.

Group Captain, Mohonto Pangging, Vayu Sena Medal (Retd from Indian Air Force as Pilot, Fighter Aircraft-Sukoi MKI),  Colonel, Hemonto Panging, Sena Medal Bar in Indian Army, Joyonto Panging who is Deputy General Manager in GAIL and Late Geeta Panging (advocate) are her siblings.

Her last rites will be held on Tuesday next at native Namsing, informed family sources.

Condolences are pouring in from various quarters comprising of former students. Mebo MLA cum advisor to Chief Minister, Lombo Tayeng and Former Chief Minister, Gegong Apang also joined in mourning Pao’s demise. 

 “Pangging was one of the most dedicated and promising trained teachers and very popular among the students for her commitment to the task and outstanding caliber in dealing with her subjects. The void created by her death will not be easily filled,” Apang said in a condolence message.
