ITANAGAR, Feb 22: The weeklong Science Festival ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ kicked off today at Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, I.G. Park. The weeklong National Science Festival is being observed across the country at 75 locations to commemorate the 75th Years of Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav showcasing the achievements of science and technology, which is being sponsored and celebrated jointly by the Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and A.P State Council for Science and Technology.
Inaugurating the Science Festival, Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology, Bamang Mangha said that his department is giving priority to the development of science and technology by bringing science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics at the doorsteps of the people for making their everyday lives easy.
 “Science and Technology is now becoming a major bridge filling the gap of lack and influence in the state,” Mangha said while exhorting the student community to “Step Out for Science” and take part in the events of the festival and reap maximum benefit from resource persons coming from the different corners of the country.
Expressing his happiness, Secretary Science & Technology, Ajay Chagti said such science festivals would help in inculcating scientific attitude and temperament amongst the youths, students and people as a whole. He also appealed to the scientists and engineers from his department to inspire young minds for innovation and research in the domain of science and technology. He stressed on using artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, robotic technology, and cloud computing as this has a huge potential for employment generation in this age of information technology.
Students from schools across the capital besides Geological Survey of India, Zoological Survey of India, Botanical Survey of India, State Forest Research Institute, Regional Ayurvedic Research Institute, Directorate of Research, Centre for Earth sciences and Himalayan Studies, State Remote Sensing Application Centre etc  are participating in the week-long science festival showcasing their publications, samples, products, achievements etc.
The inaugural programme was also attended by the Director cum Member Secretary, Er C D Mungyak, Director, Centre for Earth Sciences and Himalayan Studies, Tana Tage, Deputy Director General, GSI, among others
