BOMDILA, Jan 21:Minister Home & RWD Kumar Waii along with Parliamentary Secretary for RWD Jambey Tashi inaugurated the Badminton Double Court at Multi Indoor Sports Club Bomdila (MISCB) on Friday last and also declared open the Late Tonglang Khonjuju memorial tournament being held to commemorate the 69thRepublic day celebration.

Waii in his address said that in order to promote indoor games particularly Badminton in the state, very soon a coach would be sent to the districts on three months rotation basis to impart basic training to the players and to make the game popular.

He also opined that, as sporting events strengthens the bond and camaraderie between the players and paves the way for a better and healthier society, people should take up sporting events on a larger and more technical scale.

Jambey Tashi called for catching the players’ young and providing them with all the required facilities and training in order to bring the best out of them for representations in the national and international levels.

A total of 155 players from the various sporting clubs of the district would be vying for the top honors in the Badminton, Table Tennis and Billiards competition being held under the Lt. Tonglang Khonjuju memorial tournament sponsored by Er. Aju Khonjuju in memory of his father late Tonglang Khonjuju.

The winners of the various categories would be felicitated on the Republic Day.

Among others, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop, SP, HoDs, office bearers of the MISCB, players and the patron attended the inaugural function.
