ITANAGAR, Oct 28:

 

A daylong voluntary blood donation camp was organized today by the VKV Alumni Association, Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti at RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The programme was organized as a side event of 40 years celebration of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas in Arunachal Pradesh. 

 

Welcoming the gathering, Chairman of VKV Alumni Association, Advocate Pritam Taffo called on all to help each other in need of blood. He also detailed on the contribution of VKVs to Arunachal Pradesh. VKVs have produced 8 UPSC officers, 60 APCS officers, many other govt officers, approximately 500 engineers, more than 500 doctors and many other achievers in various other fields. 

 

Swami Vishveshwananda Maharaj, Secretary RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar inaugurated the camp and lauded the good and benevolent efforts of both the organizations and assured all possible help from his side for such activities. 

A VKV alumnus and Chairman of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS), Ramesh Jeke gave a motivational speech on voluntary donation of blood. He also narrated some of his past experiences where people died for lack of blood in hospitals mainly due to the ignorance and misconceptions regarding blood donation. On record till date the AYVS had collected 2 lakhs Units of blood and today was the 65th voluntary blood donation camp undertaken.

The camp was attended by the VKV alumni members including the General Secretary of the association Pelbang Tayeng, students from RGU, DNG College, Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan School, PCA Institution and VKV schools. In total around 100 participants attended the camp and 20 units of blood were donated during the day.
