ITANAGAR, Oct 17:Galo Students Union called on Education Minister Honchun Ngandam today and submitted a representation requesting his intervention in the mass teacher transfer carried out by the Education Department as part of rationalization process.

While appreciating the step taken by the Education Department to streamline the transfer and posting of school teachers, the GSU claims that the government has not done thorough verification before the initiating the procedure.

The station seniority is not followed, booth level officers are not taken into consideration, differently able teachers are not well verified and considered and smart class teacher are not taken into consideration as the state has very few trained smart class teachers at present, said GSU President, Binya Ronya.

The GSU also informed the Minister that various government schools in Galo inhabited areas are already facing acute shortage of subject teachers which has been a long pending demand of the union.

In many schools, secondary classes are taken by Junior Teachers. In such situation, if the said transfers materialize then the education scenario will turn from bad to worse and it will have crucial impact on students’ future, it opined.

In response, the Minister assured re-verification of the said mass teacher transfer order. The Minister also informed that the state government is planning to recruit more than 1500 teachers shortly which will solve prevailing scarcity of teachers.
