ITANAGAR, May 3:Even after passage of 11 months, the brutal murder of Ojing Taying remains a mystery as police failed to make any progress in the case and is still clueless about the perpetrators.
Claiming this, All East Siang District Students Union (AESDSU) on Thursday demanded that the case which has been handed to SIT on April 27 last be given to CBI if no breakthrough is made by the SIT within one month.
Expressing disappointment over inordinate delay in cracking the case, Convenor Yon Taki stated that there is no development in the case this despite the assurance of the Superintendent of Police, Capital Complex to solve the crime within 6 months.
Alleging that 11 months has lapsed and investigating agencies are still unable to lay their hands on anything, Taki alleged that the police didn’t care to inform the family nor the union that the case has been passed on to SIT.
President, AESDSU, Oyin Yosung questioned the way police is handling the case saying that Police should have looked at every possible angle to nab the culprit.
Referring to Rural Bank Mebo, cashier murder case which was solved by Pasighat Police within 19 days despite lack of any clues initially, Oyin suggested that the Capital Police should learn some lessons from its Pasighat counterpart.
General secretary, Tonong Darang opined that the capital police should have also carefully verified the mobile data including all call records of the area from where late Taying’s body was found.
"This might help in zeroing down the suspects mobile number from the location during the period when the murder took place," he further suggested.
Affirming to chase the police till justice is delivered, the Union also pleaded the state government to understand the agony of the bereaved family members especially late Taying’s mother who is still in trauma and waiting for justice for her son.
