DCM reviews hydropower projects to strengthen state energy roadmap
ROING, Dec 12: Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre today inaugurated the 300 metre span Deopani Bridge on the Roing – Hunli road over the Eze river.
Terming infrastructure development as key to development of any region, Dr. Bhamre reiterated the Centre’s commitment towards the development of North East region especially Arunachal Pradesh because of its potential.
‘Arunachal can become a role model for global infrastructure development and for NE region Arunachal Pradesh will open the door for the economy of South East Asia,’ he said.
Stating that the bridge inauguration is continuation of development of NE region, Bhamre opined that with the opening of Deopani Bridge and all weather roads, there will be a radical change in the socio-economic status of natives of Upper Dibang Valley district. He also said the bridge would strengthen the nation’s defence along the Sino-India border.
Underscoring the strategic importance of all the completed projects that connects Trans Arunachal Highway up to the plains of Assam, the MoS also disclosed that the Centre is keen to develop inland water ways.
He also lauded the BRTF for early and successful completion of the Deopani Bridge despite of many challenges during execution.
Earlier, Dr. Bhamre also inaugurated the Injupani Bridge along the Roing- Koronu road.
While highlighting the hard and challenging work of BRO, Lieutenant General S K Shrivastava Director General BRO said that initially Banka Company had began the construction work but failed due to Eze’s turbulent flood and rocky base foiling sinking of well foundation.
However Podder Engineering Company under the active supervision of 752 BRTF was able to complete the task within stipulated time, he disclosed.
Earlier in his welcome speech, Dr Kishore Kumar Commandant 752 BRTF briefed about the tedious journey to achieve the milestone. He also extended praise to staffers and labourers who sacrificed their lives to realize this dream.
