ITANAGAR, Dec 11: Two ULFA (I) cadres have been reportedly held captive by NSCM (IM) in Changlang District, inside Namdapha National Park for allegedly entering in the latter’s territory.

One of the ULFA (I) cadres has been identified as Tiger Asom alias Bagh Phukan, who is a close aid of the outfit’s Chief Paresh Baruah. He is part of the three different teams of ULFA (I) which are conducting extortion activities currently on the Indian side. As per sources he is known to operate in the area of Miao – Vijaynagar Road which is under the control of NSCN (IM) & NSCN (K).

As per reports, NSCN (IM) may not harm the cadres, but are likely to seize their weapons, money and the like. Besides this, they are also seeking guarantee that no ULFA (I) cadres will enter this area in the near future.

It may be mentioned that Paresh Barua is in good terms with Sr. Leader of NSCN (IM) Col. Hangshi, who is reportedly based in China around same area as that of Baruah.

But the incident might come as a setback to ULFA (I) as it could also be exploited to create rift amongst various the outfits.

Previously, the newly formed outfit – Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) denied their involvement in the incident who stated that they would never indulge in such activities as their objective is to liberate the nation of Myanmar occupied Eastern Nagaland from the clutches of tyrannical Burmese occupation, and to defend from any external aggression which undermines aspirations of the Eastern Nagas as free people.
