ITANAGAR, May 24:Home Minister, Kumar Waii on Thursday announced that very soon a City Surveillance Project will be introduced under which CCTV cameras will be installed at all important areas under the twin capital in order to check crime, improve security and control traffic congestion.
Besides this, he also announced to set up a police assistance booth at TRIHMS Naharlagun to provide paramedical staffers all required legal assistance round the clock.
He declared this while inaugurating the police assistance booth at RK Mission, Hospital, Itanagar in presence of DG, DIG, IGs along with other top officials of the state Police department at the hospital premises today.
Asserting that the duty of making the state capital free of crime rests not only on the shoulders of police but all citizens, Waii called upon the citizens to facilitate positive engagement in law enforcement and assist in implementing effective strategies to reduce crime and disorder in society.
He urged the citizens to actively assist law enforcing agencies in maintaining a safe and secure environment where they can live and reminded that police is for them, for their security and will always be there in need.
Waii later also opined that the new police assistance booth will help in reducing the response time for reaching those in need thereby providing the needy with all legal aids in a quick way.
DGP, SBK Singh in his address thanked the government especially the Home Minister for sponsoring the needed project. The newly appointed DG asserted that the police officials are committed to provide security to all.
DIG, Tussar Taba said "earlier there were only one or two police personnel patrolling the Hospital campus without any machinery thereby unable to provide required assistance to needy in emergencies.”
However he affirmed that with the inauguration of the facility equipped with sufficient manpower now the needy wouldn’t have to go far to police stations to seek help as armed personnel deputed in the booth will be always ready and available for public service 24x7 from now onwards.
