ITANAGAR, Oct 8:In view of the hullabaloo over the implementation of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy, the state government on Sunday reiterated that any policy decision taken will keep the state’s interest ‘paramount’ and sought people’s cooperation in this regard.

The Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy was implemented by the Government of India in 2014, to provide a uniform guideline demarcating the facilities to be provided to the refugees from the central government programmes living within the jurisdiction of each state government.

Since Arunachal Pradesh also has three Tibetan settlement areas, the Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014 of Govt of India was discussed in the State Cabinet recently and decided that a policy will be adopted by taking the broad principles of the central policy taking into account the interest of the state’s indigenous population after holding detailed consultations with the Community Based Organisations and stakeholders, read a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office late evening.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Pema Khandu had also stated in the recent BJP State Executive Meeting at Tawang that no decision will be taken which will hamper the interest of the state and the indigenous population.
