ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Two days training on National Disaster Management Information System (NDMIS) was inaugurated by Secretary, Disaster Management, Dani Salu at SIRD conference hall, Itanagar in presence of Director (DM) Komkar Dulom and resources persons from National Disaster Management Authority today.
The training programme is organized by the State Department of Disaster Management in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India. District Disaster Management Officers (DDMOs) from the district and nodal officers from line departments are attending the two days training.
The training programme on NDMIS is a comprehensive online application, being developed to capture disaster damages and the losses effectively and for monitoring of funds disbursal under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)/National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to States for relief activities in case of disasters and SENDAI Framework reporting. The online System will track the impacts of hazards for the entire country up to district level.    
Speaking at the inauguration, Dulom highlighted the importance of keeping expenditure records of SDRF/NDRF fund through MIS and advised all the officers for keeping updated records for smooth functioning of fund flow and transparency. He also spoke on the recent mock exercise on earthquake held on November 17 last and the various gaps on disaster response identified during the mock exercise. He emphasized on the importance of training on Incident Response System (IRS) to all the officers at the district level so that the districts are well prepared to tackle any disasters.
Secretary (DM) briefed the officers about the training and how it is important to take ordinary working style to higher level. He emphasized that disaster is very important subject and in the coming days the focus of the government will be mainly Disaster Management. He further asked all the District Disaster Management Officers (DDMOs) for submitting fortnightly report on disasters which will help in tracking records of disasters in the State.
Ajay Rawat, Senior Statistical Officer and Vikram Gurjar, Deputy Commandant (DM-I), NDRF, both attached with DM Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, introduced the trainees on the basics of NDMIS and explained how data uploading in the portal will help track the fund flow from the central to the district level.
