Aalo, Sep 7: The Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA), West Siang Unit, celebrated the 65th Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and reverence at Gumin Kiin, Aalo, bringing together around 350 teachers from across the district.
The celebration was marked by a special tribute to the veterans of the teaching profession, with 75 retired educators, including former Deputy Directors of School Education (DDSEs), Principals, Headmasters and teachers, felicitated in recognition of their long-standing, selfless and invaluable contribution to the field of education.
The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of four State Teachers’ Awardees, honouring their exemplary dedication, commitment and distinguished service towards the teaching profession.
The programme was attended by Topin Ete as the Chief Guest, ZPM West Siang Nyali Bagra as the Guest of Honour, West Siang SP Kardak Riba as the Special Guest, and DDSE Hengam Ete Bagra. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries paid rich tribute to the teaching community and acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers in shaping young minds, nurturing generations and strengthening the foundation of society. They emphasised that while classrooms and educational systems continue to evolve, the values of dedication, discipline, knowledge and service imparted by teachers remain timeless.
The felicitation of the retired educators was the emotional highlight of the celebration. Their presence served as a living testimony to the rich legacy of education in West Siang. Many of the honourees had devoted several decades of their lives to schools and educational administration, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire the present generation of teachers.
The ATA, West Siang Unit, led by Mardo Bogo, President, along with Dope Ori, General Secretary, and Kemba Lollen, Convenor-cum-Organising Secretary, was appreciated for organising the special felicitation programme as a mark of respect and gratitude to retired educationists and teachers.
