A total of 38 technical officers from District Rural Development Agencies and Water Resource Department successfully completed a training programme on mission water conservation under MNREGA being organized to strengthen the INRM planning under SAKSHAM today at SIRD & PR Itanagar.
The five day training programme was divided into technical and practical sessions and covered topics such as Mission water conservation, watershed development, runoff and ground water estimations, rainwater harvesting, water conservation, artificial recharge etc.
Secretary, RD&PR-cum-President, Executive Council, SIRD & PR, Rinchin Tashi in his address outlined in brief the intricate relationship of water conservation with forest cover requiring efficient management of water.
He also stressed the importance of the Natural Resource Management and called for efficient use of GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques under Mission Water Conservation.
Special Secretary, RD&PR, Nyali Ete, while elaborating on the growing concerns of water shortage in many parts of the state during critical months, highlighted the importance of opportunities available under Mission Water Conservation.
Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director, Training and Research-cum-STRT, Mission Water Conservation who is coordinating the programme presented a brief about the SAKSHAM initiative and the targets of 80 DTRT and 235 BTRTs, who are to be trained under nine proposed programmes within the approved deadline of 20th July, 2018 by MoRD.
The second and last batch of the DTRT programme will commence from May 1 next which will be followed by seven batches of Block Technical Training Team during May-July next.
