ITANAGAR, Jun 17:

Minister (Textile & Handicrafts), Tamiyo Taga has said that the department of Textile & Handicrafts has the potential to uplift poor section of society through various innovative Centrally Sponsored Schemes and State Government Schemes.

 

He said this while chairing a review meeting of the Textile & Handicrafts department on Saturday attended by Parliamentary Secretary (Textile & Handicrafts),Karya Bagang, Commissioner (Textile & Handicrafts) Tahang Taggu, along with all the Department Officers (Headquarters) and District Officers.

 

Impressing the urgent need for improvement of productions under various trades in every craft centre, he also underlined that time has come to adopt power loom in the state to increase productivity.

While touching on other urgent issues of the department, the Minister called for amendment of present recruitment rules to attract best technical person in the department.

He also stressed for creation of separate Sericulture department headed by independent director. While acknowledging the meager allocation of fund in the resource crunch state he appeals to all the Officers for Judicious use of fund to get maximum output.

 

He also pointed out that Adi Belt was once known for traditional cotton cultivation which is dying and needs to be revived through various schemes including traditional loin loom schemes for future generation.

Speaking on the occasion, Karya Bagang underlined the need to implement scheme in all the districts as per guidelines so as to give maximum benefits to the local weavers and artisans. She further assured to bring more funds and create posts wherever required.

 

Commissioner Tahang Taggu, underlined the need to achieve target within the allocated budget and requested all the officers to present schemes timely to the government. He also stressed for introduction of Power loom in the state and also emphasized on increasing sanctioned strength of the trainees from 886 to 2000 numbers and also increasing the revolving fund amount for each district. He further urged all the officers to work dedicatedly for the benefit of the local weavers and artisans.
