Ziro, Mar 3: Spelling out that horticulture and tourism sectors were the double growth engines that could propel and boost the economy of Ziro and the state, local MLA and Minister Agriculture and Allied Er.Tage Taki urged the youth to take advantage of the favourable landscape gifted by nature for their income generating start ups and sustainability.
Taki was speaking at the inaugural function of ‘Pamu Yalang View Point’ (PYVP) atop the Dolo Mando Hills at Bamin-Michi village here today.
Mother nature, coupled with the wisdom of our ancestors, has bestowed Ziro Plateau with a unique cultural landscape filled with immense potential in the fields of horticulture and tourism, as a result of which Ziro has become the highest producer of Kiwi fruit in Arunachal Pradesh and also earned the tag of tourist hot-spot with lakhs of tourists visiting the valley annually. Instead of hankering after shrinking Govt. jobs, our youth should focus on these key areas and be job givers rather than job seekers, said Minister Taki.
Speaking more on the tourism potential of Ziro Valley, the Minister said with Shivlinga Temple, Siikhey and Seeh Lakes, Ziro has the potential to attract massive religious and recreational tourists. However, to boost the local tourism industry and economy, we need to ensure tourists halt at leastfor a day or two at Ziro for which we need to come up with more innovative tourist centric place like Pamu Yalang View Point, said Taki.
Sharing his insights for further development of Ziro Plateau, the local legislator said, with the completion of Gyati Takka Zonal Hospital, Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, the Pangey Hydel Project, development of Hakhe Tari and Pangey as tourist spot and trout fish farm respectively, my vision and mission for the people of Ziro during my current term would be satisfying, he said.
The ‘Pamu Yalang View Point’ or the ‘Hawk’s Rock’ is located atop the majestic Dolo Mando Hills of Bamin Michi village. The scene from the view point gives an overwhelming breathtaking panoramic mystic view of the entire valley. The locals believe the rocks were the dwelling place of the hawks in the earlier era which has withstood the test of time in protecting the villages from natural calamities including famines and fire accidents. The sacred view point has been developed by PWD with an initial project cost of Rs 50 lakhs.
Earlier, while assuring to sponsor the construction of washrooms for both men and women at the view point, president of Bamin Michi Welfare Association, the apex body of Bamin-Michi village and Director Urban Local Body Hano Takka urged the tourists to be responsible by respecting the local sentiments, values, culture and not littering the place.
While thanking the local MLA for sanctioning the innovative project and engaging the local youth, Diibo ZPM Bamin Gumbo appealed the local MLA to sanction few more PMGSY roads to the twin villages.
Narrating the history of Pamu Yalang View Point, Pamu Yalang Welfare Society chairman Michi Tai informed many more historical, legendary and places of tourist interest such as Piichang Putu (Potter’s Hill), Duku and Gano Yalang were also located at the twin villages which could also be developed in due course of time.
Secretary Michi Welfare Association Michi Shalla and General Secretary of Pamu Yalang Welfare Society advocate Racho Buda also spoke on the occasion.
The function was also attended by PYWS members, officers, senior citizens and youth from Bamin-Michi villages. (DIPRO).
