ITANAGAR, Jul 10:After his name was dragged in the controversial Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) compensation scam, local MLA, Ziro cum Parliamentary Secretary, Food & Supply, Tage Taki on Tuesday said he is ready to resign or face any consequences if the corruption allegation against him was proven.
“I openly challenge the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) to come forward and present evidence and if charges are proved against me then I will morally resign from my post. And I am giving my word,” vowed Taki.
Shocked over the statement of APCC in the media, Taki however affirmed to file a defamation case against the Congress party if it fails to come up with enough evidence to substantiate its claims within 10 days.
Taki stated this in a press conference held this afternoon in the wake of allegations levelled by opposition Congress which raised questions of his alleged involvement in the TAH scam from Pangin to Bopi in Lower Subansiri and Joram to Koloriang under Upper Subansiri.
Strongly denying his involvement in the malpractice, Taki claimed that in the entire stretch of Potin to Pangin proposed TAH project neither he nor any of his family members are going to benefit as none of their names were featured in the final list of beneficiaries.
He, however, admitted when final list of beneficiaries was listed out he came to know that his name also surfaced for a small size culvert and Rs 22000 was allocated for it as a compensation, of which he said he had no idea initially.
Further clarifying, Taki informed soon after the issue of discrepancy surfaced in the disbursal of compensation amount to the affected people, he personally took up the matter along with other MLAs with the chief secretary wherein after a thorough discussion the meeting agreed to form a reassessment committee headed by secretary, land management to re-examine the matter.
‘In addition, it was also decided to seize all documents related to banking operation and matter of transfer of deputy commissioner (DC) Lower Subansiri, Kemo Lollen was also finalized after his activities were found suspicious while also ordering a probe into it,’ Taki disclosed.
He also said regarding early execution of the TAH project in particular from Bopi to Pangin, he personally appraised the matter four times with the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway (MoRTH) at New Delhi.
Further terming the allegations raised against him as very serious in nature, Taki called for proper investigation in the matter and welcomed inquest by any independent agencies like SIC or CBI to prove his innocence.
But on the other hand, if the inquiry finds no such evidence against me, Taki stated he expects that APCC will assume its political responsibility and tender apology failing which he will take to legal recourse.
