ITANAGAR, Jul 21: The Students United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) on Saturday refuted the charges of forceful donation among shopkeepers including business houses under Bomdila township during their camping there as alleged by shopkeepers including CBOs (Community Based Organizations) in a release issued to media recently.

Recently, the SUMAA members had carried out a rally in Bomdila against the Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy-2014 and a day after their protest several civil societies of West Kameng levelled serious charges against them of collecting donation from shopkeepers.

Addressing newspersons here today, General Secretary Suraj Ligu strongly denied involvement of Union members and termed the allegation as baseless and politically motivated.

He clarified that no member from SUMAA were involved in such unprofessional activities but admitted that a few well-wishers contributed voluntarily for the cause of the union movement.

SUMAA president Tagru Tame said that despite submission of reminders including memoranda regarding deportation of refugees from state including cancellation of their  trading licenses,  ST certificates and PRC obtained illegally and other benefits allotted to them no action has been taken so far  to address their demands.

Alleging that CM Khandu and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju are ‘sympathetic’ towards the Tibetan refugees, Tame also condemned the four legislators of the district for trying to save refugees with unknown personal interest.

He also went on to challenge all MLAs, including Chief Minister, Pema Khandu and MoS, Kiren Rijiju for a public debate to solve the issue once and forever. They further warned that if no action is initiated within stipulated time to address their demands then they will launch its third phase of their movement.
