KHONSA, Aug 7:Tirap District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) today organised an awareness campaign at Don Bosco School at Kheti village, near Khonsa town, on the theme Tobacco - a threat to development under National Tobbaco Control Program (NTCP).
More than 200 hundred students along with faculty members participated in the awareness programme. The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr P Rakshit, DPO, DTCC Khonsa.
DTCC consultant, Nijali Tacho briefed the participants about the launch of NTCP program at district level and highlighted law enforcement rules which is to be followed and sought for unified fight to minimise tobacco consumption.
Social work mobiliser, Tai Bhai presented PPT on ‘ill effects of tobacco use on health and society’, while Kenyum Nabam, psychologist, presented PPT on ‘counselling and it's availablity at district hospital Khonsa’ and urged everyone to come and avail the facility.
Father Jose, principal of Don Bosco school expressed gratitude to all the participants and resource persons for their valuable information on ill effects of tobacco consumption on individual and society.
The programme concluded with anti tobacco pledge by all the participants.
