YUPIA, Oct 12:The students of NIT, Yupia called off the indefinite strike after getting assurance from concern authority in the wee hours today.
Meanwhile, Secretary Education, Bidol Tayeng has directed in –charge director of NIT to address the student’s grievances by apprising the matter to a visiting team from Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), arriving to the state capital to assess the situation on October 13.
Clarifying that the NIT administration is fully functioning under the Government of India, Tayeng said that the state government has no direct role to play, except in case of law & order problem.
Over the shifting of NIT from temporary campus in Yupia to the permanent campus at Jote, the Secretary Education disclosed that the decision was also taken by the board of director of NIT in its last meeting , wherein the house decided that the functioning of NIT be shifted gradually from temporary campus in Yupia to the permanent campus at Jote.
Students were on agitation since Monday last demanding posting of regular Director, proper campus with basic facilities. Students were alleging that there is no any basic amenities in the newly constructed NIT, Jote.
Meanwhile, police has registered two cases viz Doimukh Police station Case no 35/17 us 279/ 337/506/34 IPC R/W section 25(1) a Arms Act & no 36/17 us 341/427/506/34 IPC against a person (name not revealed) however no arrests have been made till this evening, informed SP Papumpare, Tumme Amo.
The SP also met few faculty members this morning and thoroughly discussed the issues.
