Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ITANAGAR, Mar 26:A day long programme on “The Question of Silence: Tribal, Languages and the Future” was organised by Centre for Endangered Languages, Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies, Rajiv Gandhi University, wherein many speakers comprising research scholars , lecturers etc delivered speeches on the topic.
In his address, special invitee, Founder of Bhasha Research and Publication Centre, Baroda- Adivasi Academy, Tejgadh, Padmashree Ganesh N. Devy stressed on the importance of safeguarding, understanding and preserving the indigenous languages and their worldview.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tamo Mibang, also put forth his concern and raised apprehension on the future prospect of tribal languages of Arunachal Pradesh.
An annual newsletter by the Centre for Endangered Languages entitled “CFEL Research Newsletter (Vol.II)” was also released on the occasion which highlights and discusses the research and documentation of the endangered languages of Arunachal Pradesh.
The first documentary film made and produced by the Centre for Endangered Languages titled ‘Ngok Miri dekke Yoyo- Gaga gokktuanam kidding’ (Those Songs and Lullabies I Used to Sing) was also screened during the programme.
It is to be mentioned here the documentary film has already won the Best Documentary Award during the Arunachal Film Festival held here at Itanagar from March 23 to 24 last.
