PASIGHAT, Dec 16: In a bid to boost tourism development and air connectivity, the Arunachal Pradesh government is working with the Centre to upgrade the Advance Landing Ground (ALG) at Pasighat, stated Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Nakap Nalo while holding a developmental meeting with the local MLA Kaling Moyong, Deputy Commissioner East Siang Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kumar Jha, host officers and leaders here today.
According to the Minister, Pasighat ALG is important to the country strategically and new trade, jobs, tourism and economic opportunities would be available in abundance after upgradation. In connection with land acquisition at the ALG for development of Civil Enclave, Nalo sought wholehearted cooperation from all corners and assured of central financial support for the purpose adding "once the project is denied, it won’t come again". He urged the local MLA and DC to complete the compensation process of affected families and further asserted that once the airport is modernized, air traffic from different parts of the country would be increased.
MLA Kaling Moyong said, “Pasighat being the oldest and centurion town deserves better air connectivity and we need to improve its quality to meet the demand. Tourist traffic will increase once we have an upgraded airport”. He put forth the grievances of the affected families and sought immediate compensation before eviction.
Civil Aviation Secretary, Swapnil M Nair discussed about the land acquisition with the district administration and officers and leaders and elaborated the importance of more land for better connectivity.
