State mulls US based foundation support for malaria eradication

 

ITANAGAR, Apr 18:

 

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein convened a meeting with Health Commissioner, Kaling Tayeng and officials of Health Services to discuss and to explore possibilities of availing support from the NeoDocto Malaria Eradication Programme for eradicating malaria from the State. 

Mein while explaining the outcome of his interactions with Global President and CEO of US based Neodocto Foundation, Madhukar Sanneerappa who had called on him on Tuesday informed that the foundation had extended their willingness to provide assistance and help the State Government in eradicating malaria. The company agreed to provide assistance in areas of educating the masses and creating awareness towards prevention and treatment, free of cost.

 

“Our State being a malaria prevalent state, we should take advantage of such opportunity and seek feasible support from the NeoDocto Malaria Eradication Programme,” said Mein.

 

He asked the officers to avail the opportunities provided by the Neodocto Foundation and provide the requirement of the State on the basis of quantum of affected areas and also to draw an action plan to make Arunachal a Malaria free State.

 

Special Secretary (Health) Dr Tapasya Raghav, Additional Director Health cum State Programme Officer (SPO) National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Dr Allok Yirang and Public Health Consultant NVBDCP Dr Tumge Loyi were also present in the meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sanneerappa called on Deputy Chief Minister where he informed that his foundation is investing some of its profit in social work sectors like healthcare system especially in Malaria Eradication Programme all over the world.

 

Elaborating on Neodocto foundation Inc, Sanneerappa informed that the foundation is a health-based IT company headquartered in Manhattan, New York. It believes that everyone on this planet should get 360-degree care and works forward to achieve this through its various 28 services, through creating small ecosystems between doctors, patients and other partners in health care. It has a huge potential to provide maximum service through its offices in 81 countries, he added.

He said that his foundation is now working to eradicate malaria from Asia-Pacific region and has been travelling all through India to collaborate with different states and charitable institutions. He informed that his foundation had already collaborated with 14 States in India including Assam, Mizoram and Sikkim in the North East.

DCM welcomed the Neodocto Foundation’s effort towards such prime cause and said to explore the possibilities.
