ITANAGAR, Feb 9: Following the recent controversy in the recruitment process of the Postal Department, the Joint Action Committee for the Postal Department Fiasco (JACPDF) has urged the state government to issue a notification to include local dialects as a criteria for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Seva posts under the postal department.
Speaking to the media, spokesperson JACPDF Tarh Atung informed that the team has met Union Minister Communication, Railways, and IT and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention for an amendment in the recruitment rules so that local unemployed youth of Arunachal Pradesh would get more as well as fair opportunities. He further added that they have also met Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, MP (Lok Sabha) Tapir Gao, MP (Rajya Sabha) Nabam Rebia seeking their support on the issue.
Stating that, Atung asserted that all the MPs including the Union Minister for Earth Science have assured to extend all possible support for the welfare of the local youths of the state. Atung claimed that the central Minister and authority have categorically stated that the state government has issued a notification suggesting the Postal Department to include local dialects, at least of 23 major tribes of the state, as one of the major criteria in the recruitment process, especially in the Arunachal Pradesh quota. "Now the ball is in the hands of the state government; they have to make major decisions for the welfare of the state," added Atung.
"We have also urged the Union Minister and concerned authority to establish another Postal Division in the state. In states like Assam and Tripura, there are dozens of Divisional offices of the Postal Department; however, in terms of geographical area, Arunachal is larger," stated spokesperson – JACPDF.
"For the same issue, we have been asking for an appointment with the Chief Minister, but till date nothing has materialised," said Chairperson Kipa Kanam while appealing to the local PRI leaders to avoid giving any kind of recommendation to Non-APST who are coming with an appointment order of Gramin Dak Seva under the postal department in Arunachal’s quota.
