TAWANG, Oct 25:Arrangements are in place for the 2017 edition of Tawang Festival which will begin on Thursday, October 26 at picturesque Tawang. The 4-day festival which will go on till 29thof this month will be participated by all the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
Main highlights of the festival would include exhibition stalls, flower show, cultural medley, ethnic dress show, herbal medicine stalls, indigenous games and sports and food stall serving ethnic tribal cuisines.
Street Carnival at the streets of Old Market with hundreds of performers performing the traditional dances in vibrant traditional attire is going to be the ultimate treat.
The annual calendar event which aims to revive and protect the rich heritage of the entire state would showcase the cultural displays under one single roof. Efforts have been made to make the festival tourist-centric so as to give visitors a taste of culture and tradition and to allow them to have an insight into the tribes here. Special seating arrangement for tourists has been planned.
Amongst the star performers are Ani Choying Drolma, the singing nun known worldwide for her modernised Buddhist chants, performers from Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Tenzin Kunsel, Bobby Lama & group from Nepal and Bollywood singer Suresh Jagan.
