ITANAGAR, Sep 20:Reiterating the state government to immediately address its long pending demands, the Central Executive Committee All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (CEC AASSATA) has threatened to resume its indefinite pen down strike, if government fails to address its grievances within September 30 next

The SSA teachers have been demanding the state government for single window entry for PRT/Assistant Teachers at Director of Elementary Education (DEE), batch wise regularization (one batch in a year), enhancement of salaries etc.

In a press conference held this afternoon at press club, CEC AASSATA, General Secretary, Tarak Agung Tarh disclosed that earlier the association had called off their third phase of agitation after the government had given written assurance to address the demands.

Agung resenting that several months have passed yet their demands have not been addressed, also condemned the government’s lackadaisical attitude towards SSA teachers across the state.

‘11 months is enough to formulate a proper and tangible mechanism to redress the grievances of SSA teachers,’ said a dejected Agung.

Further justifying its demand for single window entry of PRT/Assistant Teachers at Director of Elementary Education, Agung claimed that the single window entry system will not only facilitate regularization opportunities for in-service SSA teachers but also give job opportunities to unemployed youths of the state.

Clarifying that the Single window entry will not hamper the promotion and new recruitment of teachers, IPR secretary, Techi Tagar said that adopting the new policy does not mean regularization of teachers in one go, but to start a new regularization process for teachers by filling vacant posts of regular teacher who either retires or in the case of death or under voluntarily resignation schemes (VRS).

He suggested the government for early framing of single window entry policy under DEE and appoint in-service SSA teachers and fill up the APTET/CTET holders in the resultant vacancies of regularized SSA teachers.

Claiming that earlier Education Minister Honchun Ngandam had assured to enhance the salary of in-service SSA teachers according to the 7th CPC as per Bidol Tayeng Committee Report on March 5 last year, Tagar called for immediate implementation of the report while maintaining “equal pay for equal work” and demanded the state government for enhancement of SSA teachers’ salary as per the recommendations of 7th CPC.

Further, while strongly opposing the purported FAX/Email dated September 11, 2017 allegedly sent to all DDSEs of district by Joint Director, DEE directing them to furnish the list of in-service SSA teachers having APTET/CTET on or before September 25 next for regularization, the Association demanded the state government particularly concern department to immediately revoke the same.

Criticizing the department of partiality and nepotism, the Association stated that such move by the government will deprive many teachers of their rights and demanded for immediate revocation of the same.
