Book on Traditional Festivals of Arunachal Pradesh released
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: To mark 50 years of All Arunachal Pradesh Student Union (AAPSU), a sports event was organized at Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) today which was kicked-off and declared open by former AAPSU President and incumbent State Congress President, Takam Sanjoy.
Attending as the Chief Guest, Sanjay sought for better understanding and unity between the student union. ‘My personality was developed being in the AAPSU before entering politics. AAPSU is that lone student union which can bind the clans and tribes of Arunachal Pradesh and so the union carries a very big responsibility on their shoulders,’ he said.
Taking the opportunity, Sanjoy also spoke on the refugee issue and acknowledged their rights on humanitarian grounds but asserted that it cannot be at the stake of indigenous land and tribes. ‘Chakma and Hajong issue is volatile and all the political parties should be united on this issue. Moreover our lone mission is to protect the image of indigenous people,’ he said.
Gracing the golden jubilee celebration as the Guest of Honour, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Prince Dhawan while applauding the AAPSU for organizing sports event to remark the 50 years celebration said that history of Arunachal Pradesh is indeed incomplete without AAPSU.
The Golden Jubilee Celebration sports event has various sports events like football for Men and Volleyball for Women. Women Volleyball Tournament will be held on September 25 and finals for both will conclude on September 30 next
