ITANAGAR, Nov 24: Assembly Speaker P D Sona on Thursday called upon the youths of the state to "get high on life not on drugs".
The Speaker said this while addressing the “Mock Parliament” organised by Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the students of various colleges as part of Constitution Day celebration on 26thNovember at Assembly Complex.
Reiterating that drug menace is one of the biggest challenges in society today, the Speaker made a fervent appeal to the youths not to indulge in substance abuse and suggested them rather to get "high on life and not on drugs."
Further, speaking on the Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression enshrined in the Constitution for every citizen, the Speaker asserted that when democracy gives us freedom it also gives us responsibility. He emphasized that the people should always analyse and introspect before speaking out their opinions on any platform.
Expressing serious concern over growing trends of cybercrime, cyber bullying, social media trolling and other related activities causing serious mental health issues among the youths, the Speaker suggested the people especially youths to use social media responsibly and for good of others. 
Although the cyber world has opened a wide range of learning opportunities for the youth and children, these opportunities and the endless ocean of knowledge have some serious drawbacks and one of the evils of this increase of knowledge and connectivity is cyberbullying, the Speaker said.
“Cybercrime has emerged as one of the biggest modern-day challenges,” said Sona and urged the youths to be responsible and make use of technology for productive things.
SP SIC Anant Mittal, SP SIT Rohit Rajbir Singh, SP Capital Jimmy Chiram, Dr Rinjin Megeji, Associate Professor, TRIHMS and Rangphoa Ngowa, IFS attended the “Mock Parliament” as resource persons and spoke at length on wide range of topics such as cybercrime, cyberbullying, trolling, mental health, menace of drug abuse etc.
Meanwhile, in the technical session the students actively participated in the discussion and shared their views and ideas on the topics and also interacted with the resource persons. 
Taliha MLA Nyato Dukam also attended the programme.
