Itanagar, Jan 28: The 3rd Kokrajhar Literary Festival was officially inaugurated on Saturday by Arunachal Assembly Speaker and Chairman of CPA India Region Zone-III, P.D. Sona. The event, held in Kokrajhar town, drew participation from 180 poets and writers representing eight countries, including Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Estonia, Kenya, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
The festival's first day was marked by a vibrant atmosphere, featuring poetry recitations, poets' meet and cultural events.
This year's theme, "Exploring Limitless Horizons," focuses on discussions related to governance and sustainable management.
Eminent personalities, including Dr. Bina Vidya Dharan, Emmanuel Majaw Khan, Dr. Avani Bhagavati, and renowned poet Samir Tanti, are participating in the panel discussions.
Meanwhile, addressing the gathering, Speaker Sona commended the organizing committee for their efforts in fostering cultural exchange and intellectual discourse. He emphasized the festival's role in uniting diverse voices and promoting a shared appreciation for literature.
Sona praised the positive transformation of Kokrajhar, attributing it to the political will of the Government of India, the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as well as the Assam Chief Minister and people of Bodoland.
He highlighted the festival as a platform for connecting with intellectual minds and engaging in meaningful communication. The Speaker expressed hope that the three-day event, with its various parallel sessions and diverse activities, would instill a rich literary culture in Bodoland and contribute to the development of young minds. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in literary activities, gaining valuable insights from international luminaries brought to Bodoland.
Additionally, Sona voiced concern over climate change and global warming, emphasizing the need to protect the fragile ecology, particularly in regions closely connected to nature.
He stressed the moral duty of each one to safeguard the environment for future generations, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in preserving the only place we have for generations to come.
