ITANAGAR, May 15:Stating that the family of late Ojing Taying has lost faith in the investigation launched by the Police and special investigative team (SIT), the Boriing Oleng Welfare Society (youth wing ) on Tuesday demanded the case be handed over to the central bureau of investigation (CBI) for impartial inquiry and early trial of the perpetrators.

In a press conference, President, BOWS(YW), Elijah Taying questioned the inability of Police in solving the case despite passage of 11 months since the death of late Taying on June 9, 2017 following attack by unknown miscreants at Niti Vihar road in the state capital.

Asserting that only CBI inquiry will convince the aggrieved family members of fairness in probe, Taying said ‘Police and SIT are working under the same umbrella and within the state machinery so we recommend that the case be given to the CBI.’

Justifying the demand for immediate shifting of the case, Taying alleged “We expect no end result from the SIT team also considering the shoddy investigation made by the police,” and pointed out the lethargic working culture of the state police department in solving such cases.

Further alleging that careless attitude of Police is unnecessarily delaying justice to the victim and his family, he alleged that inability to solve the case despite the time lapse is very unfortunate which clearly indicates that they (police) are not proficient enough to solve the case.

Earlier on Monday, the society also submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Kumar Waii requesting his intervention in handing over the case to CBI. It claimed that in response to their plea, the Home Minister assured to look into the matter on priority basis.
