PASIGHAT, Nov 13:  In an effort to stop the ongoing mass transfer of teachers from East Siang District during mid-session, the School Management Committees’ Coordination Committee of the district called on Minister Education Honchun Ngandam at Itanagar today.

The team who met Ngandam and Secretary Education, Bidol Tayeng asserted that the mass transfer of teachers mid-session under rationalization policy of education department has hampered the teaching-learning process across several schools in East Siang.

Referring to the state education Act/Rule of 2010 and 2016, which states that mid-session transfer shall be considered in exceptional cases only, the members lamented that mass transfer of 152 teachers in one go from the district can’t be justified as it is hampering the student learning process.

While speaking to this reporter, SMC-Coordination Committee Member Secretary, Mongol Gao said that, Education Minister and Secretary Education have assured to discuss and re-verify the exact situation and until such time transferred teachers won’t be released.

“We are not against rationalization policy of education department if the same is done in a fair manner. But mass transfer at one go without understanding the ground realities is affecting the academics of many students instead of helping them,” he said.
