ITANAGAR, Aug 26:

Siang United FC won the Solung football tournament 2017 by defeating Solung United FC by 2-0 in the final match which was played at Dera Natung Government College field on Saturday evening.

Striker, Nong Panging gave Siang United FC the lead in the 4th minute of the match. The Solung FC had a few chances to go ahead even in the early minutes of the first half, but defenders of Siang United FC managed to keep them out and kept the deficit to one goal till half time.

In the second half, the opponent striker twice missed a one versus one chance against the Siang FC goalkeeper after he dribbled way through the opposition defenders but failed to convert it.

Jersey no 16, another right striker of Siang united,  Moshi Saroh pushed for a second goal, but was narrowly saved by the Solung FC defenders.

But in the 63 minutes, the repeated attempts on goal finally bore fruit for Siang United FC as finally Moshi Saroh scored from inside the box to double lead and the scoreline read 2-0.

Till last 90 minutes of the game, Solung FC tried hard to make a comeback but defenders of Siang United FC remain undeterred and strikers kept the opposition goalkeeper busy.

Commissioner PWD Bilatee Pertin gave way the Solung Football Trophy to the winning team while Chief Engineer (SID&P) Atop Lego presented the runner up trophy.

Earlier, Tapi Gao, senior Adi member and Director Elementary Education (DEE) addressed the players and gave them words of advices. He exhorted the players always to maintain the sportsmanship spirit whenever they happen to play games and sports. He also suggested the youths to play games and sports for healthy life.
