KANUBARI, Nov 27: Secretary North Eastern Council, Ram Muivah, has advocated for women empowerment and self sustainable economic development. Muivah accompanied by Managing Director, NERCORMP Dr. Shailendra Chaudhari are on tour of Tirap & Longding districts since Saturday and visited Kanubari today.
Muivah informed that NERCORMP is a non-governmental organization run by the society of NEC for upliftment and to transform the lives of the poor and marginalized tribal societies in North East, India. He urged upon the people, especially youths to come forward for making visible changes in society.
NERCORMP is willing to impart skill development training of their choice to youths for which they would provide financial assistance for transport, food & lodging at Guwahati, he added.
Chairman APSCIT & E Governance and MLA Gabriel Denwang Wangsu accompanied the dignitaries on their way to Kanubari from Longding.
At a meeting with the SHGs, HoDs and public, Wangsu while briefing the Secretary apprised him on the need to change the village economy through proper identification of beneficiaries and schemes that would boost the growth. There is extreme need to examine and identify schemes which would be viable and fetch remunerative prices, he said. The MLA also highlighted his vision and shared his policies toward sustainable economic development.
ADC Kanubari Taro Mize also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, just after their arrival, the delegation visited Coffee Nursery at Mopakhat in Kanubari before
driving in to Forest IB for reception where they were accorded warm reception by the public leaders, HoDs, SHGs and NaRMGs.
On Sunday, the NEC Secretary visited Senua village, a NERCORMP project village in Longding and held interaction with Self Help Groups (SHGs), while earlier on the day en route to Longding from Khonsa, Muivah visited Old Tupi village and interacted with the SHGs and NaRMGs.
The team which started their tour to the twin districts of Tirap and Longding from Deomali also visited Thinsa village, a NERCORMP project village at Khonsa on Saturday and held meeting with the SHGs.
