ITANAGAR, Dec 22:

Film & Television Institute (FTI), Itanagar at its temporary campus at Vivek Vihar today, organized a valedictory function on completion of the 10 weeklong short program on filmmaking; A Short Trip To Cinema. This was the second such event in the same year which began on 16 October, 2017.

Director Information and Public Relations, Obang Tayeng , who presided over the event as chief guest in his speech thanked SRFTI, Kolkata  for conducting such intensive short program and also briefed the audience about the active steps the Government of Arunachal Pradesh is taking to spread the knowledge of cinema in the state.

“IPR will be organizing hordes of programs including two film festivals and few short workshops on filmmaking next year,” he stated to the applauding audience.

Sonam Teli, a leading entrepreneur in her brief speech as Guest of Honour, mentioned about the lack of interest among the local students. She stated, “that students from far away states like Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu etc are coming all the way to Itanagar to participate in this program, which is almost free but the local students are not availing this opportunity, which is very sad.”

Two short films made by the students as part of the program was screened for the occasion and received audience appreciation. One called “Mwunzinam (Hope)”, a poignant document of how “drug” abuse affects the family structure and “The Maze” a surrealistic vision of a person dealing with pain of separation.
