ITANAGAR, Jun 24: Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology in an effort to sensitise young children about the use of science in daily life, today organized a programme titled ‘Hands On Activity in Science Under The Programme Sci-Connect-2018’ here at the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre.
The programme was supported and catalyzed by Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, GoI and fifteen students studying in upper primary to secondary level segment who qualified in the screening test examination conducted by APSCST during July 2018 participated. The participating schools were Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya & JNK Public School, Itanagar, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Vivekvihar and Vivekananda Public School, Daporijo.
Director cum Member Secretary, APSCST  C.D. Mungyak elaborated the importance of the programme intended for the children of the Northeast and appealed the participants to come up with innovative ideas by learning from inputs of the programme. He also appealed to the guide/escort teachers to put their full effort to encourage the students to participate in such exposure programmes apart from routine classes.
Deputy Director & Programme Coordinator Dr. P. Lombi, Scientist-C from SRSAC Dr. Swapna Acharjee, Scientist-B, DBT Dr. Pankaj Bharali were present on the occasion. Curator, AP Science Centre Dr. Vivek Kumar was the resource person who gave a lecture and presentation on ‘Disaster Management, Bio-diversity and an Introduction to Sun’.
