ITANAGAR, May 10:  In a decisive move against criminal activities, the Itanagar police have uncovered and busted a child trafficking and prostitution network and rescued four minor girls aged 10-15 years. The operation, marked by meticulous investigation and strategic raids, resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals, including professionals such as engineers and a doctor.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Itanagar, Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that based on credible inputs of a prostitution ring involving minor girls being run at Chimpu, on May 4 last, the capital Police team conducted a raid at the alleged brothel cum residence of one Techi Rina @ Ania and Jamlo Tagung and rescued three minor girls Miss A, Miss B and one Miss X (names changed).  On examination, the two minor girls Miss A and Miss B revealed that they had been trafficked to Itanagar from Dhemaji, Assam by one  Pushpanjali Mili aka Tutu Mili and Purnima Mili.
Narrating the whole investigation, the SP stated, that after being trafficked to Itanagar they had been forced into prostitution by both Mili sisters in support of  Ania and Jamlo. The third victim girl child is the daughter of Jamlo Tagung from his first marriage, however, she was not forced into prostitution and has been reunited with her mother where she is safe.
The matter was conveyed to CWC and based upon their complaint a case vide Itanagar WPS Case No- 20/24 u/s 373 IPC R/W Section- 6/8/12 POCSO Act and Section-3/4/5/6 of Immoral Trafficking Act was registered and taken up for investigation.
Consequently, it was learned that two more minor girls trafficked from Dhemaji, Assam are also there and are presently in the custody of Pushpanjali Mili in Ganga, Itanagar. Capital Police team rescued the other two minor girls Miss C and Miss D as well, bringing the total rescue of the victim minor girls in the case to four.
All four traffickers cum pimps namely Pushpanjali Mili @ Tutu Mili, Purnima Mili, Techi Ania, and Jamlo Tagung have been arrested and are presently in police custody whereas the rescued minor girls are at Shelter Homes where they are receiving further medical and mental health care, stated the SP.
He also informed that the investigation undertaken till now has revealed that Pushpanjali Mili and Purnima Mili runs a beauty parlour by the name of Pompi and Rosni Beauty Parlour at Vivek Vihar, Itanagar. They procure minor girls from poor families in Dhemaji, Assam on the pretext of getting them jobs in Itanagar. Once the girls are brought here the two Mili sisters with their network of pimps including Techi Ania, Jamlo Tagung, Pushpa Mandal and Laxmi Gorh would look for suitable customers to be intimate with the minor victim girls through Whatsapp Groups and other conventional channels.
Once they find a probable customer looking for minor girls they would share the photos of the victim minor girls with them on Whatsapp, fix the rate and then the girls would be driven to the customer by the husband of either Pushpanjali or Ania who would have booked a hotel room or the customer would come down to the residence of Ania or any other place of their choosing. The customers would sexually assault the minor girls; pay up the pimps and leave. The money would be kept by the pimps wherein at regular intervals they would take the minor girls for shopping, buy them clothes etc.
“We have arrested all the persons who had trafficked the girls, including pimps who arrange customers for the girls and the people who  take the minor girls to the customers once the deal gets done,” Singh informed.
