 NAHARLAGUN, Aug 10:In an attempt to spread awareness on Open Defection among school-goers, an NGO, United Charity organized a daylong awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School, Naharlagun in the presence of Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Naharlagun, Hento Karga.

Chairperson of United Charity, Sangge Droma elaborated in detail about initiatives being taken up by both state and central governments to make the country open defection free and stated that central government had set 2019 as the target to make India 100 per cent open defecation free.

She disclosed that Arunachal due to its low population is 87 percent free from defecation and rest 13 percent are targeted to be declared open defecation free in 2017. Further she also informed such similar awareness will be conducted in different schools of Capital Complex to help the government mission in making state open defection free.

Acknowledging the initiatives of the NGO, EAC Hento Karga encouraged them to do more such kind of programme and assured to give all support. He also promised to donate a water tank of 2000 liters capacity to Government Higher Secondary School, Naharlagun.

Later an interaction programme was also held in the school premises.
